Review of Patrick Patrascu:

Strange, dreamlike, mystical, these could be the qualifiers given to the painting of Patrick PATRASCU, an invitation to a distant journey into a limitless imagination. Paraphrasing Baudelaire, it is not in vain to say that here everything is freedom and beauty, dream, calm and voluptuousness. This is the work of a poet, a work written with brushes and color. The writing is rich and plunges us into this whirlwind of the mind that takes us, if only for a moment, into an unknown universe and into an endless wandering.

Imaginary landscapes, enigmatic characters, intimate or mysterious scenes are all subjects that constitute the painter's work and give it its timeless character. Color and light flood the canvases with an uncommon force served by a warm and rich palette, an incisive and almost invisible line. Painting then becomes, like poetry, the language of the soul and the artist the transmitter of authentic messages.

The evanescence of the characters not only gives the work its lightness and mystery but also strength to an expression rich in symbols. CHAGALL is not very far away. To the gaze and the aesthetic is then added another quest, another questioning, to know what could have led the painter in this vision of human nature and the world which remains above all full of hope and humanity. All that remains is to look, to contemplate, to decipher a painting that speaks but which does not say everything. It is indeed in this part of mystery that the artist invites us, who, perhaps, does not know himself what unspeakable force guides him… In reality, it is vain to try to express by language, by adjectives, what Patrick PATRASCU expresses by his painting. He is a poet who paints, he is a painter who becomes a poet. We must then read his painting and try to follow him on his own journey. Art then takes on its full meaning and contributes to awakening ours.
